Global Product Director
Emma – The Sleep Company · Francfort-sur-le-Main
Job description
About the role
Emma – The Sleep Company is seeking a Global Product Director to lead its product organisation worldwide. You will shape the product strategy, drive category management and physical product development, and ensure Emma remains the leading D2C sleep brand across online and offline channels.
Key responsibilities
- Own category management and product development, including range architecture, lifecycle management and pricing logic.
- Build and lead a high‑performing, cross‑functional product team (6 direct reports, ~65 members) across category management and product development.
- Develop and execute a global product strategy to cement Emma’s position as the market leader in sleep.
- Lead physical product development, overseeing materials, manufacturing, supplier relationships and cost structures.
- Ground product decisions in deep consumer insights to boost satisfaction, brand preference and word‑of‑mouth.
- Design product architecture that balances global ambition with meaningful local differentiation.
- Contribute to senior leadership, reporting directly to the CEO and co‑founder, influencing company strategy and cross‑functional decisions.
- Manage P&L responsibilities, defend margins and prevent range proliferation.
- Establish processes and accountability structures for a predictable, high‑performing product organisation.
- Develop senior product leaders, focusing on succession planning and capability building.
Required profile
- 12+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3‑4 years in a senior leadership role managing other leaders.
- Deep expertise in category management – assortment strategy, range architecture, pricing logic and portfolio decision‑making.
- Hands‑on experience in physical product development, including materials, manufacturing, supplier relationships and cost structures.
- Background in branded consumer goods with proprietary R&D, not purely retail or trading.
- Operationally hands‑on, comfortable leading by doing.
- Proven decision‑making under ambiguity and ability to provide clarity across stakeholders.
- Experience in large, multi‑market, multi‑category organisations (1,000+ employees).
- Strong cross‑functional collaborator who views product as a platform for company‑wide impact.
Required skills
- Category management and assortment strategy.
- Physical product development and supply‑chain management.
- Consumer insight analysis.
- P&L ownership and margin management.
- Leadership of large, cross‑functional teams.
