Global Production Data Architect

About the role

As a Global Production Data Architect in BASF’s Coatings division, you will lead the digital transformation of production sites worldwide. You will design and govern a scalable architecture that captures, integrates and makes production and process data available for data‑driven decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Define and steer the target architecture for production data across multiple sites.
• Develop standards and concepts for integrating data sources such as sensors, PLC, SCADA, historians, MES, LIMS, quality and ERP systems.
• Ensure data quality, availability and cybersecurity while structuring data for reporting, root‑cause analysis, process optimisation and advanced analytics.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business functions and production sites, translating requirements into robust architectural decisions.
• Establish global standards for data models, interfaces, documentation and governance to guarantee consistency and reusability.
• Collaborate with an international network of experts to drive roadmaps and advance the production data architecture.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, business informatics or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data architecture, data integration or industrial data platforms, preferably in a global production environment.
• Strong understanding of production processes, IT/OT integration and standards such as ISA‑95, OPC or MQTT.
• Proven ability to design scalable data architectures and ensure data quality and security.
