Group Chief Financial Officer

About the role

Privatal is seeking a permanent Group Chief Financial Officer for a fast‑growing engineering and consulting services platform headquartered in the Munich area. The role will partner closely with the CEO, shareholders and advisory board to professionalise the finance function, integrate acquisitions and drive the next phase of value creation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance function across a multi‑site, multi‑entity organisation.
• Manage debt, covenant reporting and lender communications in an LBO environment.
• Oversee financial integration, reporting standardisation and post‑merger integration for buy‑and‑build transactions.
• Control cash flow, working capital and project‑based profitability under HGB and IFRS.
• Provide strategic financial insight to support growth across Germany and selected European markets.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CFO or Group CFO in a business with revenues exceeding €100 million.
• Demonstrated track record working with private‑equity investors, lenders, boards and advisory boards.
• Experience in LBO environments, debt management and covenant compliance.
• Background in multi‑site, multi‑entity models, preferably within engineering, consulting or professional services.
• Fluent in German and English.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of project accounting, work‑in‑progress (WIP) controlling and project profitability.
• Expertise in financial reporting under HGB and IFRS.
• Hands‑on experience with financial integration and post‑merger processes.
