Head of Communications

About the role

RFBerlin is looking for a strategic Head of Communications to shape and lead the institute’s communications agenda. The role will drive the dissemination of research, strengthen media relations and enhance the organisation’s public profile among policymakers and the wider public.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an overarching communications strategy covering research dissemination, media outreach, digital presence and stakeholder engagement.
• Lead and mentor a communications team, overseeing daily output and ensuring high‑quality content.
• Build and maintain relationships with national and international media outlets, journalists and policy stakeholders.
• Oversee production of newsletters, social‑media campaigns, web content and analytics reporting.
• Coordinate with researchers to translate complex findings into accessible messages for diverse audiences.

Required profile

• Degree in communications, journalism, economics or a related field.
• Several years of professional communications experience, including people‑management responsibilities.
• Proven ability to convey complex research to policymakers, media and the public.
• Strong interest in social policy, evidence‑based policymaking and economics.
• Fluent in German and English.
