Head of Data & AI

About the role

The Head of Data & AI will define and drive the strategic vision for a unified data organization in Germany. Reporting to senior leadership, you will oversee Data Engineering, Data Science, AI, Quantitative Analytics, and Business Intelligence, turning complex data into measurable business value.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a comprehensive Data & AI strategy aligned with business goals.
• Lead, mentor, and grow multidisciplinary teams while establishing technical standards and career frameworks.
• Design scalable, reliable, and secure data platform architectures, including ETL/ELT pipelines, real‑time processing, and cloud infrastructure.
• Drive AI and Large Language Model initiatives such as retrieval‑augmented generation, AI agents, intelligent automation, and semantic search.
• Implement best practices for Data Engineering, MLOps, and LLMOps (CI/CD, model versioning, monitoring, observability, prompt management).
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, compliance, and responsible AI (fairness, explainability, regulatory alignment).
• Partner with business stakeholders to deliver executive dashboards, advanced analytics, and experimentation frameworks.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of hands‑on experience across data engineering, data science, machine learning, and analytics.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience managing technical data teams.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Design and operation of ETL/ELT pipelines and real‑time data processing.
• Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• MLOps and LLMOps practices (CI/CD, model versioning, monitoring, observability, prompt engineering).
• Data governance, security, and compliance.
• Experience with Large Language Models, retrieval‑augmented generation, and semantic search.
