Head of Design

About the role

Hilo by Aktiia is seeking a visionary Head of Design to shape the look, feel, and interaction of its groundbreaking blood‑pressure monitoring solutions. In this senior, strategic position you will own the end‑to‑end design vision for both digital interfaces and physical wearables, ensuring every touchpoint delights users and supports the company’s health‑impact mission.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the overall design language across app, web, and device experiences.
• Ensure seamless, cohesive experiences that integrate motion, interaction, layout, typography, and visual systems.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and hardware teams to translate concepts into high‑quality, manufacturable products.
• Guide the design direction of physical products, influencing materials, form factor, finishes, and tactile quality.
• Establish and maintain a high design quality bar, making decisive design choices across the organization.
• Mentor and inspire a growing team of product designers, fostering a culture of excellence and attention to detail.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in product design, preferably within consumer‑tech or medical‑device environments.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end design of both digital and physical products.
• Ability to translate complex technical challenges into elegant, human‑centered solutions.
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams (product, engineering, hardware).
• Strategic mindset combined with meticulous craftsmanship.
