Head of Flight Control System (FCS)

About the role

STARK is looking for a Head of Flight Control System (FCS) to own and evolve the software, firmware, and avionics hardware that power our unmanned aircraft. You will lead a cross‑functional team that delivers a core FCS product across multiple loitering‑munition platforms, driving both current integrations and future in‑house development of flight control laws.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage sub‑teams for flight software, firmware, and avionics hardware, hiring and mentoring leads in each area.
• Define and implement a modular, reusable FCS architecture supporting multi‑rotor, fixed‑wing, and VTOL aircraft.
• Plan sprints, allocate capacity across parallel aircraft programmes, and ensure timely delivery of qualified flight control releases.
• Establish a design‑verification culture with design reviews, code reviews, and continuous integration pipelines.
• Act as the primary liaison for Vehicle Systems Leads, Payload Teams, and Ground Control Software groups.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in embedded systems or avionics development.
• Strong background in flight software/firmware and hardware integration.
• Experience managing multi‑disciplinary engineering teams in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with PX4 or similar open‑source flight control stacks.
• Proficiency in continuous integration practices for embedded software.
