Head of Grants & Funding (Remote, EU/Africa)

About the role

Ignite Energy Access is seeking a senior professional to design, launch and lead its grants and development‑finance function. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will turn an existing strong portfolio into a systematic, high‑performing pipeline that mobilises concessional capital at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Own and expand the grants opportunity pipeline across 12 African countries, tracking RFPs, programme launches and new concessional capital opportunities.
• Lead end‑to‑end bid development, from concept notes to full submissions, often under tight deadlines.
• Structure hybrid financing mechanisms and coordinate with country managing directors, finance and legal teams.
• Manage post‑award grant activities, including milestone tracking, disbursement forecasting, M&V coordination and compliance reporting.
• Build grant‑readiness across country teams through data systems, beneficiary tracking and training.

Required profile

• Proven track record securing and managing grants in energy access, climate or development finance.
• Deep knowledge of the sustainable‑development funding landscape and major donors.
• Exceptional written communication and ability to craft compelling impact narratives.
• Strong commercial instinct and understanding of unit economics.
• Highly organised, systematic and deadline‑driven.
