Head of Maintenance (Deputy) – Production & Packaging

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Maintenance (Deputy) to lead the maintenance function at our Sassnitz production site. You will support the Head of Maintenance in ensuring high equipment availability and drive continuous improvement across production and packaging lines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and supervising all maintenance activities for production and packaging equipment.
• Implement preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximise OEE and minimise unplanned downtime.
• Lead, coach and coordinate a team of roughly 25 technicians, acting as Deputy Head of Maintenance when required.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality and Packaging departments to prioritise tasks and align with production schedules.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Finance and external service providers for spare parts, contractor services and budget compliance.
• Monitor equipment performance, analyse downtime and maintenance KPIs, and drive continuous‑improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards and company policies during all maintenance work.
• Support equipment upgrades, new installations and process optimisation projects.

Required profile

• Completed technical education or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic engineering.
• Several years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Solid knowledge of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance processes and relevant safety standards.
• Initial experience in leading, coordinating or supervising maintenance teams, with the ability to act as Deputy Head of Maintenance.
• Preferably a further technical qualification (e.g., technician, master craftsman or bachelor’s degree).
