Head of Process Engineering – GMP Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Process Engineering to lead technical excellence in a GMP‑regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Northern Germany. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert across multiple technologies, ensuring product quality, process reliability, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise across manufacturing operations.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and troubleshoot complex process and equipment issues.
• Drive process optimisation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Support equipment qualification and validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Manage deviations, CAPAs, and change controls within a GMP environment.
• Act as a technical mentor and trusted SME across the organisation.
• Support technology transfers, scale‑up activities, and operational‑excellence projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemical, Process, Bioprocess, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, vaccine, biotech or other GMP‑regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of process engineering and manufacturing operations.
• Experience with deviations, CAPAs, change controls, and root‑cause investigations.
• Exposure to equipment qualification and validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• German and English language skills are highly advantageous.
