About the role
This position is central to building a strong organisational framework, ensuring local compliance, and fostering a high‑performance culture across Europe. The successful candidate will act as a strategic HR Business Partner for local managers and serve as the main liaison between European teams and the international headquarters.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the full employee life‑cycle for European staff, including recruitment, onboarding, contracts, performance management, compensation & benefits, and off‑boarding.
- Ensure HR policies and practices comply with local labour laws in Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and the Benelux region.
- Lead the design and administration of localized compensation and benefits programmes, maintaining competitiveness and internal equity.
- Provide guidance on people management, development and complex employee‑relations issues as the primary HR Business Partner.
- Act as the main contact for employee representative bodies (e.g., Works Council in Germany) and handle related communications.
- Maintain and update European employee handbooks and policies in line with legal changes.
- Oversee daily operations of the Hamburg office, including supplier management, budget control, environment maintenance and health & safety.
- Support administrative functions for other European locations and organise regional team‑building events, meetings and business travel.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of broad HR generalist experience, with hands‑on work in Germany and at least one other European country (France, Spain, Portugal or Benelux).
- In‑depth knowledge and practical application of German labour law and a solid understanding of EU employment frameworks.
- Full professional proficiency in English and German (written and spoken).
- Legal right to work in Germany (EU citizenship, Blue Card or permanent residence).
Required skills
- Expertise in German labour legislation.
- Familiarity with labour laws in France, Spain, Portugal and/or the Benelux region.
- Experience managing HR processes such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management and compensation.
- Office and facilities management capabilities.
- Strong communication, negotiation and problem‑solving abilities.
