Installation Engineer – Field Service (m/f/d)

About the role

As an Installation Engineer in Applied Materials' Field Service Operations, you will bring cutting‑edge semiconductor equipment online at advanced manufacturing sites. The position involves extensive travel (up to 75% of the time), a six‑month onboarding phase and a possible 12‑month international training assignment in Taiwan.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Senior Customer Engineers to install, commission, maintain and upgrade Applied Materials equipment at customer sites.
• Support equipment startup and acceptance activities to ensure successful deployment.
• Utilise digital diagnostic tools, equipment analytics and structured troubleshooting to resolve technical issues.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas delivery systems.
• Diagnose performance problems and implement solutions with senior technical support.
• Build strong customer relationships through professional communication and technical expertise.
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality and operational procedures in clean‑room environments.
• Document service activities, reports and technical findings accurately.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives as required.

Required profile

• Associate, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics engineering or equivalent technical training.
• 1‑4 years of experience in field service, maintenance, manufacturing support or installation engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Basic aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum systems or thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools and test equipment such as digital multimeters.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s licence and authorization to live and work in Germany.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
