Integrated Modular Avionics Engineer – Aircraft Systems

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking an Integrated Modular Avionics Engineer to lead the development of aircraft system architectures from concept to certification. The role focuses on functional integration, safety compliance and the definition of modern IMA/ATA42 workflows within a high‑stakes aerospace environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop system architecture in line with safety, human‑factors, security and performance requirements, including specification, traceability, integration, verification & validation and certification.
• Define and maintain end‑to‑end system documentation, leveraging shared computing resources and aircraft data networks.
• Lead the concept phase, designing the computing and data‑network infrastructure for aircraft, evaluating shared versus federated approaches.
• Support safety specialists during safety assessments, addressing the specificities of shared IMA resources.
• Plan and execute verification and validation activities, including operational test scenarios and multisystem integration test rigs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in aircraft systems engineering across the full development lifecycle (ARP4754B).
• Strong background in aircraft certification, system safety/reliability and DO‑297 adaptation for IMA.
• Proven ability to manage technical risk, plan schedules and make autonomous decisions.
• Fluent English with negotiation‑level proficiency.
