Interim Finance Director (Freelance)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director on a freelance basis to guide a Berlin‑based technology start‑up through its post‑acquisition integration and next phase of growth. This hands‑on leadership role will require rapid understanding of the existing finance function and immediate operational support.

Key responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day finance operations, including month‑end close, reporting, accounts payable and receivable, and financial controls.
• Drive post‑acquisition integration by aligning financial processes, reporting structures and ways of working.
• Review, streamline and automate finance processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Lead and support the finance team, ensuring smooth delivery of core activities.
• Oversee treasury management, cash‑flow monitoring and financial planning.
• Provide senior management with accurate financial insights and decision‑support analysis.
• Identify quick‑win improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Finance Director, Head of Finance or Finance Manager in a technology, start‑up or fast‑growing environment.
• Strong accounting foundation combined with broader finance management expertise (reporting, controlling, treasury, cash‑flow).
• Demonstrated ability to lead finance teams and manage operational finance activities.
• Experience with integrations, transformations or post‑acquisition environments is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to support senior stakeholders.
• Hands‑on, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast‑paced setting.
• Available to start quickly on an interim/freelance basis.
