IT Network Architect

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking an experienced IT Network Architect to design, evolve, implement and support its global network infrastructure. You will ensure stability, integrity and security of enterprise networks while leading complex technical projects aligned with strategic business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor a small team of network and IT professionals, fostering collaboration and high performance.
• Participate in day‑to‑day network operations, configuring, installing and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points.
• Design and implement scalable LAN/WAN and cloud network solutions.
• Serve as primary escalation point for complex network issues, providing advanced troubleshooting.
• Plan and execute network‑related projects from conception to completion, on time and within budget.
• Develop and enforce network security policies, managing firewalls, VPNs, NAC and IDS/IPS.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to define requirements, manage SLAs and communicate status.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including disaster recovery plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional networking experience.
• Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNP or equivalent.
• Proven experience architecting enterprise networks and managing large‑scale IT infrastructure projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills in both German and English.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, STP).
• Hands‑on proficiency with enterprise‑grade switches, routers, firewalls, WLAN controllers.
• Network security expertise (VPNs, IDS/IPS, access control, threat management).
• Experience with cloud networking (AWS VPC, Direct Connect; Azure VNet, ExpressRoute).
• Familiarity with network monitoring and automation tools.
• Understanding of ITIL incident, change and problem management processes.
