Junior Backend Engineer – Data Platform

About the role

As a Junior Backend Engineer you will help build, maintain and scale the infrastructure and backend services that power Airbus Defence and Space’s data analytics platform. You will work at the intersection of backend development and DevOps, collaborating with data engineers and analysts to ensure a performant, reliable and observable analytics ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation pipelines using Ansible, Gitlab‑CI and Helm.
• Provision, configure and operate MongoDB and InfluxDB databases.
• Manage containerised deployments on Kubernetes (RKE) and release applications via Helm charts.
• Implement monitoring and alerting with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Write basic Bash scripts and use Git for version control.

Required profile

• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work in an agile, multicultural team.
• Professional fluency in English and German.

Required skills

• Ansible, Terraform, Gitlab‑CI, Helm, OCI, ArgoCD.
• Experience with Linux/Unix command line and Bash scripting.
• Knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes) and Helm charts.
• Familiarity with MongoDB, InfluxDB, Prometheus and Grafana.
• Programming basics in Go, Python, Java or Kotlin.
