Junior Communications Manager (m/f/d)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Communications Manager to support our Director of Communications in both external and internal communication activities. You will work in a fast‑moving startup environment at the intersection of technology and security, collaborating closely with founders and senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Create and edit content for press releases, social media, presentations, website copy (German and English) and other channels.
• Support internal communications by preparing updates, coordinating cross‑team messaging and maintaining internal formats.
• Assist with institutional communication and outreach to government agencies, defence ministries, NATO and EU institutions.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of trade fairs, conferences and industry events.
• Manage and grow our LinkedIn presence and engage with relevant defence and tech communities.
• Research, monitor and analyse political, funding and media developments in the defence and security sector.
• Maintain distribution lists and support stakeholder communication.

Required profile

• Completed degree in communications, political science, international relations, journalism or a related field.
• Initial experience in media or press work, such as building media contacts, preparing interviews or drafting press releases.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to convey complex topics clearly.
• Structured, independent working style and ability to manage multiple parallel tasks and deadlines.
• Genuine interest in defence, technology and security policy.
• Citizenship of a NATO member country or close ally.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Canva and Adobe Suite for graphic design.
• Experience in videography and photography, including editing visual content.
• Social media management, especially on LinkedIn and defence‑tech communities.
• Familiarity with communication or analytics tools.
• Understanding of funding, grant and procurement processes at NATO, EU institutions or the Bundeswehr.
