Learning and Capability Lead – Shared Services

About the role

The Learning and Capability Lead will shape and continuously improve War Child Alliance’s learning ecosystem, ensuring staff, leaders and partners have the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to deliver the organisation’s mission. Working within the People and Culture function, the role blends strategic design with hands‑on delivery across functions and countries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and refine the organisational learning and capability strategy in line with strategic priorities and future workforce needs.
• Design and maintain learning frameworks, standards, SOPs and minimum standards to enable scalable capability development.
• Create structured learning pathways, certification programmes and professional development journeys for technical, leadership and partner capacity building.
• Lead the design and rollout of blended, digital and community‑based learning solutions, including coaching models and communities of practice.
• Partner with technical teams, country programmes and strategic partners to embed localisation and equitable partnership approaches.
• Act as the technical specialist on learning and capability, translating needs into practical, scalable solutions.
• Govern learning platforms and technologies, ensuring quality, accessibility, data integrity and compliance (e.g., Kaya LMS, digital badging).
• Develop and apply quality‑assurance processes for learning products and methodologies.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering learning and capability programmes in complex, multi‑country environments.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands‑on implementation mindset.
• Excellent collaboration skills, able to work with HR, technical and programme teams.
• Commitment to humanitarian values and to fostering inclusive, equitable learning cultures.
