Lecturer in North American Political Science (English)

About the role

The University of Bonn seeks a full‑time permanent Lecturer to join its North American Studies program within the Institute of English, American and Celtic Studies. The position focuses on teaching Political Science related to the United States and Canada at both Bachelor and Master levels, conducted entirely in English.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 12 weekly teaching hours (SWS) in Political Science covering transatlantic relations, policy, and comparative political systems.
• Design, administer, and grade examinations for BA and MA programmes.
• Conduct research in North American political culture and contribute to transdisciplinary projects.
• Participate in administrative duties within the North American Studies program.

Required profile

• Doctorate in a relevant discipline; habilitation or equivalent qualification is desirable.
• Demonstrated teaching and research experience on US/Canadian political systems, transatlantic relations, or comparative political science.
• Strong publication record and active international research network.
• Excellent written and spoken English (instruction language).
