Legal Counsel – German In‑House Role for Energy Business

About the role

We are seeking a qualified German lawyer to join a leading European energy company as the primary legal contact for its German operations. This senior individual‑contributor role offers ownership of the German legal function, direct access to strategic decisions, and support from a well‑resourced European legal team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on real estate, permitting, construction, commercial contracts, M&A support, regulatory compliance, and energy trading.
• Support business units from early project structuring through contract execution for new acquisitions and partnerships.
• Manage relationships with external law firms, ensuring cost‑effective spend and supplier accountability.
• Collaborate with European legal counterparts across multiple jurisdictions.

Required profile

• German qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of post‑qualification experience.
• Background in a corporate law firm or in‑house legal environment.
• Proven experience managing commercial contracts.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and managing external counsel.
