Legal Counsel – In‑house (Germany)

About the role

Orcrist is seeking its first in‑house Legal Counsel to lead the legal, compliance, and contractual function across the group. You will work directly with senior leadership, shaping legal infrastructure for a fast‑growing data‑intelligence platform.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts such as client agreements, MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, vendor and subcontractor agreements.
• Maintain and update the company’s contract template library and standard legal documents.
• Ensure GDPR compliance, act as the internal point of contact for data‑protection queries and coordinate with external DPOs.
• Advise on public‑sector and defence‑adjacent regulatory requirements, including export controls and security‑related obligations.
• Manage relationships with external counsel, including scoping, briefing and quality control.
• Support corporate governance across group entities, handling shareholder matters, inter‑company agreements and subsidiary structuring.

Required profile

• Fully qualified German lawyer with successful First and Second State Examinations and admission to the German bar.
• Minimum 4 years of post‑qualification experience, preferably split between in‑house and private‑practice environments.
• Proven track record drafting and negotiating B2B IT and software contracts, including SaaS, licensing and IP clauses.
• Strong knowledge of German employment law and hands‑on experience with GDPR compliance.
• Prior experience at a large law firm and ability to communicate fluently in German and English.
