Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join ISCC’s headquarters in Cologne. The role will support the company’s sustainability mission by providing practical, business‑oriented legal advice across a range of commercial and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary internal point of contact for legal issues, delivering actionable advice.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal, contractual and operational risks.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage NDAs, terms & conditions, supplier contracts, MoUs and other legal documents throughout their lifecycle.
• Maintain contract documentation, templates and the central repository.
• Support governance, risk & compliance (GRC) processes and help develop legal frameworks and policies.
• Provide legal assistance in compliance matters, internal investigations and remediation.
• Advise on data protection and privacy in collaboration with the DPO/CISO.
• Coordinate external counsel, manage selection, communication and cost control.
• Assist with HR‑related legal issues and internal policy development.
• Standardise legal processes, templates and documentation across the organisation.
• Ensure consistency, transparency and quality of all contractual documentation.
• Support trademark and insurance matters when required.

Required profile

• Second state examination in law (German).
• 3‑5 years of professional legal experience, preferably with at least 3 years in an in‑house legal department.
• Solid background in contract law, commercial law and corporate legal matters.
• Strong knowledge of governance, compliance and risk‑management frameworks (GRC).
• Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts such as NDAs and supplier agreements.
• Familiarity with data protection and privacy topics is a strong advantage.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and reliability.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to advise stakeholders in a business‑oriented manner.
• Fluent English and German (C1‑C2, written and spoken).
