Litigation & Licensing Manager – Intellectual Property

About the role

BASF’s Global Intellectual Property service unit is seeking a Litigation‑Licensing Manager to lead the monetisation of its IP portfolio. You will work closely with business units, research platforms and senior management to assess legal and financial implications of IP cases and drive strategic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assess litigation and licensing cases, evaluate legal and financial impacts, and provide recommendations for strategic decisions.
• Lead cross‑technological litigation and licensing teams to achieve successful business outcomes.
• Co‑develop negotiation strategies for licensing and settlement agreements and guide negotiation preparation.
• Prepare executive briefings summarising risks, opportunities and decision pathways for general management.
• Deliver training to innovation teams and patent counsels on value‑creation opportunities within the patent portfolio.

Required profile

• Completed university degree in business, marketing, IP/law or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional experience in IP business, including litigation, licensing or patent‑related legal work, preferably in an international corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of digital IP assets, digital patents, licensing frameworks and the financial impacts of legal evaluation.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English; Chinese language skills are a plus.
