Master Thesis – Acoustics Interior Noise (d/f/m)

About the role

Airbus Operations is seeking a master‑level student to support the Interior Noise department with a six‑month thesis focused on aircraft cabin acoustics. The position is based at Airbus’s Hamburg production site and starts on 01.01.2027.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth research and analysis of interior noise sources and propagation within aircraft cabins.
• Develop and apply advanced simulation models and experimental methodologies for acoustic analysis.
• Evaluate and compare different noise‑reduction strategies and materials.
• Collect and analyse data from laboratory tests and flight measurements.
• Document research findings and present results clearly.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers and researchers in the acoustics department.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Acoustics or a related field.
• Strong academic record with focus on acoustics, vibrations or signal processing.
• Proficiency in software tools such as MATLAB, ANSYS, COMSOL or LMS Test.Lab (a plus).
• Experience with experimental acoustics and data‑acquisition systems is beneficial.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); German language skills are a plus.
