Master Thesis on Characterization of Sequence Robustness for Secure NTN Communications

About the role

The position supports the Digital Payload Processors Design Team within Airbus Defence and Space’s Telecom & Navigation Processing department. As a Master‑thesis student you will work on the characterization of sequence robustness for secure non‑terrestrial network (NTN) communications, contributing to the development of a jamming‑resilient gNodeB for future 6G satellite systems. The internship is based in Taufkirchen/Ottobrunn, near Munich, starting 1 October 2026 for six months.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse mathematical and statistical properties of sequence designs under NTN‑specific channel conditions.
• Develop simulation models for pilot‑spoofing and jamming scenarios and evaluate their impact on signal integrity.
• Characterise robustness of different sequences using relevant performance metrics.
• Identify unique signal signatures that can be used to distinguish legitimate from malicious transmissions.
• Support R&D activities on on‑board implementation and scaling of a jamming‑robust gNodeB.

Required profile

• Master‑level student in Electrical Engineering, Communications, Signal Processing or a related field.
• Strong interest in satellite communications, 5G/6G and non‑terrestrial networks.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within an R&D team.
