Mechanic Technician – Vehicle Sustainment (Lingenfeld, Germany)

About the role

MANTECH is looking for a motivated, career and customer-oriented Mechanic Technician to join its vehicle sustainment team in Lingenfeld, Germany. The selected candidate provides maintenance support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program. Candidates without an active German/EU work visa must work the first 60 days in a temporary role while obtaining their visa; once approved, a full-time German contract is offered.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, rebuild or overhaul major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors.
• Replace worn or broken parts such as piston rings and bearings, grind and adjust valves, rebuild carburetors, overhaul transmissions and repair fuel injection, lighting and ignition systems.
• Support operations, system troubleshooting, engineering, design, installation, analysis, maintenance and repair of U.S. systems and subsystems to component level.
• Apply industry or military standard troubleshooting procedures to locate and isolate faulty components.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• An active Germany/EU work visa (candidates without one work temporarily for 60 days).
• Three years of qualified automotive maintenance experience, including at least one of: tactical and commercial wheeled vehicles, tracked vehicles, power generator sets or construction equipment.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Valid driver's license for the place of work, high school diploma or GED, and a passport valid at least one year beyond the start date.
• Willingness to travel to various U.S. or OCONUS locations (preferred).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; local German nationals need a current favorable LNSP or eligibility for one.
• Physical ability to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch, kneel, lift 50 lbs, work in high noise and use computers and keyboards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools and multi-meters.
• Troubleshooting and isolation of faulty system components.
