Mechanical Design Engineer – Aerospace (8+ yrs)

About the role

Destinus is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead aerospace component projects across the full design lifecycle. You will work closely with propulsion, vehicle, and flight‑control teams to deliver innovative UAV solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects for airframe, propulsion, landing gear, and flight‑control systems from concept to manufacturing and testing.
• Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, schematics, bills of material and related documentation.
• Prepare and present technical documentation, calculations and analysis to substantiate design decisions.
• Participate in and drive design reviews.
• Manage suppliers and manufacturers, addressing technical queries and resolving production issues.
• Select standard parts, fasteners, equipment and consumables following industry best practices.
• Contribute to Digital Mock‑Up (DMU) and configuration management activities.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (technician qualifications with substantial experience considered).
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience in the aerospace sector, preferably 8 years total.
• Strong knowledge of machining, sheet‑metal forming, composites and additive manufacturing processes.
• Excellent understanding of engineering fundamentals, material properties, stress and load‑path analysis.
• Proficiency in ISO GD&T and fluent English communication.

Required skills

• Siemens NX (CAD) and TeamCenter PLM.
• Advanced CAD and PLM management, including part design and DMU.
• GD&T application.
• Machining, sheet‑metal, composite and additive manufacturing techniques.
• Material properties analysis and basic stress calculations.
• Seal and fastener design.
• Selection of auxiliary electro‑mechanical components.
• Experience with hydraulic and fuel system component design (beneficial).
