Mechanical Design Engineer – Seating (all levels)

About the role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Seat Engineering Department, you will lead the design of vehicle seating systems from concept through end‑of‑life, solving technical challenges across a wide range of components.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full product lifecycle: concept generation, vehicle packaging, detailed design, validation, manufacturing feasibility, production processes and sustainability.
• Balance and negotiate product attributes such as safety, comfort, cost, mass, schedule and environmental impact.
• Create 3D CAD models (CATIA) and 2D drawings, define datum and fixation strategies, apply GD&T and own the Bill of Materials.
• Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate findings using DRBFM/DFMEA to ensure robust designs.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement and cross‑functional teams to guarantee system integration and compatibility.
• Produce technical documentation for internal and external communication.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent with several years of full‑cycle design experience.
• Strong fundamentals in statics, kinematics, dynamics, materials, mechanisms and GD&T.
• Expertise in soft‑goods design (textiles, elastomers, fibers) and composite structures (fiber‑resin).
• Excellent technical communication skills, including hand sketching, prototyping, data collection and presentation.
• Self‑motivated, organized and able to meet tight timelines using first‑principles thinking.
