Mechanical Designer Engineer – Electronic Housings

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Designer Engineer to lead the development of electronic housings for advanced defence systems. Based in Munich, you will work closely with the engineering team to create rugged, ergonomic, and manufacturable mechanical solutions for high‑performance electronic warfare equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical architectures for electronic housings, focusing on durability, shock, vibration and temperature resistance.
• Create rapid prototypes using 3D printing and in‑house workshop tools to accelerate design iteration.
• Optimize designs for large‑scale production methods such as CNC machining, injection molding and sheet‑metal fabrication.
• Ensure modularity and maintainability for field service and repair.
• Select materials that meet RF transparency or EMI shielding requirements while withstanding harsh environments.
• Manage technical relationships with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
• Support environmental qualification and certification processes, including MIL‑STD‑810 and IP67/IP68 testing.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience bringing hardware products from prototype to serial production, preferably in defence, aerospace or rugged industrial sectors.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Eligibility for German security clearance (SÜ2/Ü2) – German or EU citizenship required.

Required skills

• SolidWorks or Siemens NX (3D CAD).
• Rapid prototyping and 3D printing.
• CNC machining, injection molding, sheet‑metal fabrication.
• Knowledge of MIL‑STD‑810, IP67/IP68 standards.
• Material selection for shock, vibration, temperature and EMI shielding.
