Mechanical Designer

About the role

Helsing, a defence AI company, is seeking a Mechanical Designer to lead the design and development of mechanical parts and full assemblies for its drone platforms. You will work from initial requirements through to validated hardware, ensuring robust, scalable and cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of drone components and assemblies from concept to validated hardware, producing 3D models and 2D drawings that meet ASME/ISO standards and manufacturing requirements.
• Translate comprehensive requirement sets into design concepts, applying analytical assessments to standard mechanical elements such as bolts, bearings and fittings.
• Build and integrate prototypes hands‑on, performing structured assessments to validate robustness, usability and ruggedness under operational conditions.
• Plan and execute validation test campaigns to drive technical maturation and reduce programme risk at each design milestone.
• Produce comprehensive design documentation in compliance with company quality standards and PLM workflows, ensuring traceability across the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering mechanical parts and assemblies for aerospace or similarly demanding applications.
• Proficiency with 3D/2D CAD tools such as SolidWorks/PDM or Siemens NX/Teamcenter.
• Confident application of ASME/ISO drawing and mechanical design standards, including analytical assessment of standard components.
• Hands‑on experience integrating and testing prototypes, using test outcomes to iterate designs.
• Strong written English communication to produce rigorous engineering documentation within a PLM environment.
