Mechanical Engineer – Industrial Facilities (Berlin)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Facilities Engineering team of a leading international manufacturing company in Berlin. The role focuses on ensuring reliable operation, maintenance, commissioning and continuous improvement of mechanical utilities that support a complex industrial production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and optimise mechanical systems such as HVAC, pumps, compressed air, chilled water, heating and piping.
• Diagnose equipment failures and conduct Root Cause Analysis (FMEA).
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximise equipment reliability.
• Lead installation, commissioning and improvement projects for mechanical assets.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Perform cost analysis and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
• Collaborate with Engineering, EHS and Facility Management teams.
• Coordinate contractors and support technical projects from planning through execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification as a Mechanical/Mechatronics Technician.
• Several years of experience in industrial manufacturing, production facilities or facility management.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, pumps, compressed air, chilled water, heating and piping systems.
• Hands‑on experience with commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment.
• Proven ability to manage technical projects and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Fluent communication skills in German and English.
