Mechanisms Design Engineer – Aerospace

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanisms Design Engineer to join our launch‑vehicle development team. You will work on stage and fairing separation mechanisms, hydraulic, pneumatic and electro‑mechanical actuators, as well as umbilical fluid and electrical systems for a European space program.

Key responsibilities

• Design vehicle mechanisms from concept through qualification, including CAD models, drawings and sizing studies.
• Define requirements, drive trade studies and optimise manufacturing processes for mechanism performance.
• Collaborate with static‑structures and propulsion teams to ensure interface compatibility.
• Create, review and release development and flight‑hardware drawings and documentation.
• Identify and resolve build, test and design optimisation opportunities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of full‑cycle product design experience.
• Proven ability to deliver results on time and with high quality.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluent English (German is a plus).

Required skills

• CAD (Siemens NX preferred), SolidWorks, TeamCenter.
• Knowledge of ISO GPS or ASME GD&T tolerancing.
• Experience with kinematic synthesis, pneumatic/hydraulic and electro‑mechanical actuation, mechatronics and tribology.
• Familiarity with analysis tools such as ANSYS, Altair HyperWorks, Nastran.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, surface treatments and PLM/ERP systems.
