Media & Communications Manager

About the role

Berlin Global Dialogue, the think‑tank embedded in ESMT Berlin, is seeking a Media & Communications Manager to lead its external communications and media engagement. The role will shape the organisation’s narrative, support the annual summit and build lasting relationships with journalists and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications and media strategy to position Berlin Global Dialogue with global audiences.
• Drive media outreach by pitching stories, coordinating interviews, preparing briefing materials and managing approval processes.
• Build and maintain a network of journalists, editors and media contacts to generate earned coverage.
• Create positioning opportunities across earned, paid and owned media channels.
• Manage media and broadcast partnerships before and during the annual summit, ensuring a coordinated high‑impact presence.
• Oversee onsite media management and implementation of the summit media plan.
• Ensure the quality and consistency of core communications assets such as brochures, summit programmes and wrap‑up reports.
• Supervise the Social Media & Content Officer and guide social‑media, website and content execution.
• Collaborate with the Event Manager on brand assets and partner branding for the summit and other events.
• Work closely with the Partnership Manager to align communications timing and strategy with partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading communications and media strategies for high‑visibility programmes or events.
• Strong network of media contacts and ability to secure coverage in relevant outlets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Leadership capability to supervise a small communications team and coordinate cross‑functional partners.
