Molecular & Fluid Dynamics Engineer

About the role

FS Dynamics Hamburg is expanding its advanced multiphysics simulation capabilities and seeks a Simulation Engineer who can bridge molecular‑scale physics with industrial CFD and Molecular Dynamics workflows. You will work on complex transport phenomena, helping customers translate scientific insight into actionable engineering decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and validate advanced CFD and Molecular Dynamics simulation workflows for industrial applications.
• Translate molecular mechanisms, chemical interactions, and transport processes into robust CFD, MD, or coupled models.
• Review academic literature, extract relevant methods, and adapt them into efficient industrial methodologies.
• Simulate multiphase, reacting, heat‑mass transfer, particle transport, surface chemistry, and rarefied gas or plasma‑related processes.
• Integrate MD insights from tools such as LAMMPS or GROMACS with continuum‑scale models where appropriate.
• Build and refine CFD models using platforms like STAR‑CCM+, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, COMSOL Multiphysics, or OpenFOAM.
• Analyze results, assess modelling uncertainty, and provide clear engineering recommendations.
• Collaborate with experts in CFD, FEA, plasma, and system simulation on coupled and reduced‑order workflows.

Required profile

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Physics, Materials Science or a related discipline.
• Strong ability to read and critically evaluate academic literature.
• Experience translating scientific concepts into practical simulation strategies for industrial customers.
