Obsolescence Manager

About the role

As an Obsolescence Manager at Helsing, you will protect the long‑term availability of our defence AI systems throughout their full lifecycle. You will work closely with engineering, procurement and service teams to anticipate and mitigate hardware and software obsolescence, ensuring that critical components remain supportable and mission‑ready.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and monitor obsolescence risks for hardware and software across the product lifecycle.
• Develop and implement prevention and mitigation strategies, including supplier and component monitoring.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement and service teams to secure long‑term supportability of fielded systems.
• Conduct active market surveillance and apply the requirements of the Market Surveillance Act (Marktüberwachungsgesetz) to sourcing and compliance decisions.
• Maintain and interrogate obsolescence management databases (OM‑DBs) to forecast risk and inform lifecycle planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with obsolescence management databases to track and forecast component risk.
• Ability to assess and manage software obsolescence in complex systems.
• Familiarity with the Market Surveillance Act and active market surveillance processes.
• Strong coordination skills across engineering, procurement and service functions.
• Fluent in English and German (C1 or equivalent) for international collaboration and regulatory navigation.
