People & Culture Manager – Berlin

About the role

We are looking for a People & Culture Manager to be the heartbeat of our Berlin team. You will own our culture, support day‑to‑day HR operations, and partner directly with the founders and leadership to ensure a thriving workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Design and run culture initiatives, onboarding experiences, team events and rituals.
• Conduct regular check‑ins with employees, gather feedback and relay insights to leadership.
• Coordinate performance review cycles, support managers in preparation and track follow‑ups.
• Manage contracts, onboarding/off‑boarding, HR documentation and liaise with payroll and external providers.
• Maintain the Berlin office – supplies, vendors, equipment and workspace quality.
• Assist the recruiting process: schedule interviews, communicate with candidates and ensure a smooth candidate experience.
• Continuously improve people processes and tools as the company scales within the UniSea Group.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of experience in People Operations, HR or a similar generalist role, preferably in a startup or scale‑up.
• Empathetic, approachable and able to build trust with employees.
• Strong organizational skills and reliability – tasks are completed on time without reminders.
• Hands‑on mentality, comfortable switching between strategic culture work and practical admin tasks.
• Discretion and good judgment when handling confidential information.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Based in Berlin or willing to relocate; on‑site/hybrid presence required.
