PhD Candidate in AI-Based Biomarker Analysis for Cardio-Oncology

About the role

This PhD project focuses on developing AI-driven biomarker profiles to assess cardiovascular risks linked to cancer therapy. It integrates multimodal clinical, imaging, and omics data to support precision medicine in cardio‑oncology. The work will be carried out at the Leibniz‑Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften in Dortmund.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze phenotypic, microscopic, PET/MRI, MALDI‑MSI and LC‑MS/MS data sets.
• Develop AI‑based models for personalized risk assessment.
• Validate model performance using established biomarkers and patient cohorts.
• Evaluate, analyze and visualise complex data.
• Document laboratory procedures and results.
• Collaborate with project partners and present findings regularly.

Required profile

• M.Sc. or equivalent in bioinformatics or a related field.
• Extensive programming experience and practical knowledge of machine learning and large language models.
• Comfort with OMICS and image data analysis.
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
• Strong written and spoken English; German is an advantage.
