Physicist/Engineer – Particle Beam Technology for Semiconductor

About the role

We are looking for a physicist or engineer (m/f/d) to strengthen our R&D team for the development and testing of future generations of electron‑beam columns used in semiconductor inspection and metrology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop novel particle‑beam systems that meet high‑end technical requirements for semiconductor inspection and metrology.
• Define system requirements and specifications, and troubleshoot system problems.
• Plan and conduct tests of new technologies on laboratory prototypes.
• Collect and analyse data, design statistically valid experiments, and evaluate new technologies.
• Guide less‑experienced physicists/scientists and cooperate closely with a multidisciplinary international R&D team.

Required profile

• Scientific or technical degree, preferably a doctorate in physics, physical technology, optics or a comparable discipline.
• Practical experience in the design, construction and operation of particle‑beam systems.
• Systematic, analytical and goal‑oriented way of working.
• Flexibility and readiness for interdisciplinary work.
• Enjoy working in a high‑performing team and coordinating with specialist departments.

Required skills

• Design, construction and operation of particle‑beam systems.
• Knowledge of electron microscopy (SEM/TEM) and electron optics.
• Experience with ultra‑high vacuum and high‑voltage technology.
