Principal Product Designer – Zalando Assistant (Limited Contract)

About the role

Zalando is seeking a Principal Product Designer to lead the conversational design of the Zalando Assistant, an AI‑powered discovery tool. This limited‑term position runs until 31 July 2027 and involves shaping personalized, customer‑centric experiences across fashion, beauty and lifestyle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable AI‑driven solutions, including generative AI and machine learning features.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, data scientists and product managers to create intuitive, data‑informed user experiences.
• Lead workshops, conduct user research and mentor junior designers within the product design community.
• Translate complex concepts into clear design artifacts and guide the vision for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience on complex design projects, especially with AI‑powered products.
• Strong ability to turn innovative ideas into tangible concepts and align teams around a customer experience vision.
• Passion for human‑centered design that balances cutting‑edge technology with real user needs.
