Process Support Engineer – Etch Products (Central Europe)

About the role

The Process Support Engineer will guide Etch products through their full lifecycle, from concept to qualification, providing on‑site customer support, system diagnostics and complex equipment repair. You will collaborate closely with customers, R&D and sales teams to develop and optimise advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage early customer engagement and work with R&D to evaluate new Etch products.
• Qualify equipment after installation, optimise performance and cost of ownership.
• Understand customer technology evolution and align technical solutions with Applied Materials product groups.
• Partner with Sales to propose and implement technical solutions.
• Support Service teams in troubleshooting process deviations and provide training on process qualifications.

Required profile

• Experience in the semiconductor industry on advanced production equipment.
• Knowledge of semiconductor integration.
• Master’s or PhD in chemistry, physics, materials engineering, electrical engineering, optoelectronics or related field, with professional experience.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 40 % of the time to customer sites.

Required skills

• Process qualification of Etch equipment.
• Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical data analysis.
• Root‑cause analysis and complex problem solving.
• Technical troubleshooting of Chemical Vapor Deposition, Atomic Layer Deposition, Plasma Reactive Ion Etch, Physical Vapor Deposition, Anneal and Implant processes.
