Product Engineer – Customisable Furniture

About the role

As a Product Engineer for Customisable Furniture you will be at the heart of developing Westwing’s next‑generation modular furniture collections. Working closely with Buying and Creative teams, you will translate innovative concepts into robust, production‑ready products that delight customers for years to come.

Key responsibilities

• Convert creative design ideas into detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings and supplier specifications, focusing on modular and configurable furniture systems.
• Lead material, finish and manufacturing‑process selection to balance premium aesthetics with structural integrity and production feasibility.
• Conduct technical discussions with external suppliers, define product requirements, assess manufacturing feasibility and resolve quality or production issues.
• Perform structural simulations and hands‑on prototype evaluations to ensure compliance with European safety, quality and regulatory standards across all configurations.
• Define and develop core modular components that enable seamless configuration logic for the entire product range.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of product development experience, preferably in mechanical or product engineering.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion, CATIA or NX.
• Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and DFM/DFA principles.
• Understanding of modular product logic, BOM generation and supplier ordering workflows.
• Proven ability to collaborate across buying, creative and international supplier teams.
• Fluent English communication skills.
