About the role

The HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management invites applications for a Professorship in Managerial Finance. The open‑rank position is designed for scholars who wish to build or expand a research‑driven teaching profile at the intersection of finance and strategy, and to contribute to the school’s knowledge‑transfer activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality research in managerial finance, aiming for publications in internationally recognised journals.
• Deliver graduate‑level finance courses using innovative, research‑informed teaching methods.
• Collaborate with existing finance faculty and participate in interdisciplinary projects.
• Support programme development, student recruitment, admissions, career services and alumni relations.
• For senior candidates, engage in academic self‑governance and strategic planning for the school’s finance activities.

Required profile

• Demonstrated research potential (for junior candidates) or an established publication record (for senior candidates) in finance‑related fields.
• Teaching excellence in finance, with a commitment to pedagogical innovation.
• Fluency in English.
• Strong applied knowledge of financial business planning, capital budgeting, corporate valuation and corporate financing.
• Professional experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, corporate finance or related areas is an asset.
