Project Manager – Battery Energy Storage Systems (Germany)

About the role

As a Project Manager for battery energy storage systems in Germany, you will own the delivery of utility‑scale BESS projects from the contracting phase through construction, commissioning and handover. You will work closely with the Project Director, Contract Manager, Finance and HSE teams while spending time both at the Dortmund office and on site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical and financial delivery of large‑scale BESS projects, managing schedule, budget, quality, safety and monthly reporting.
• Coordinate EPC contractors, battery suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical input during contracting to ensure engineering solutions, site design, transport, connections and construction meet GIGA Storage standards and German regulations.
• Act as the primary contact for external stakeholders such as TSOs, local authorities, permitting bodies and surrounding communities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (e.g., civil, electrical, mechanical engineering or construction management).
• Proven experience managing complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects that combine civil, electrical and mechanical work.
• Demonstrated experience with EPC and/or FIDIC contracts.
• Fluent in German (spoken and written) and proficient in English.
• Strong financial awareness with experience monitoring project budgets and forecasts.
