Project Quality Manager – Battery Energy Storage Systems

About the role

The Project Quality Manager will ensure that large‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Germany meet all internal and external quality standards. Working in a hybrid setting from Erlangen or Berlin, you will coordinate quality activities across engineering, procurement, construction, suppliers and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project‑specific Quality Management Plans aligned with customer requirements and ISO standards.
• Plan and conduct internal and supplier quality audits, managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and oversee Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Support project risk assessments and implement quality‑related mitigation measures.
• Provide quality training and guidance to project teams.
• Monitor, analyse, and report quality performance metrics to stakeholders.
• Act as the primary contact for all project quality matters with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline.
• Professional fluency in German and English.
• 5–7 years of quality management experience in large‑scale industrial, infrastructure or energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and related quality standards.
• Experience conducting supplier and internal audits; ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification is highly desirable.
• Background in EPC projects and familiarity with German regulatory standards.
• Experience with BESS, renewable energy or broader energy infrastructure projects is a plus.
