Public Information Intern – EUROBATS Secretariat

About the role

The EUROBATS Secretariat is seeking a motivated Public Information Intern to support communication and outreach activities related to bat conservation across Europe. This six‑month, unpaid internship is based in Bonn, Germany, and offers hands‑on experience within the United Nations Environment Programme.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of communication and outreach activities, including maintaining EUROBATS social media channels.
• Support the preparation of communication content for campaigns such as International Bat Night.
• Help with meeting preparation, document management and filing.
• Contribute to the production of newsletters, press releases and informational materials.
• Assist in research and data collection for public awareness initiatives.

Required profile

• Current university student or recent graduate in communications, environmental studies, journalism or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal English skills.
• Interest in wildlife conservation, particularly bats.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

Required skills

• Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
• Basic document editing and formatting skills.
