Quality Manager – QMS – Defense Tech

About the role

We are seeking a Quality Management professional to design, implement and continuously improve our Quality Management System (QMS) for a fast‑growing defense technology start‑up. Reporting directly to the leadership team, you will ensure compliance with industry standards while supporting rapid product development.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and evolve a structured QMS tailored to a defense technology environment.
• Lead certification initiatives such as ISO 9001 and align processes with EN 9100 and AQAP 2110/2210.
• Plan and conduct internal audits across engineering, operations and management functions.
• Manage non‑conformities and drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.
• Establish supplier quality practices, including qualification, audits and incoming quality control.
• Ensure full traceability of requirements, design decisions, manufacturing steps and validation activities.
• Prepare the organization for external audits by certification bodies, government authorities or major defense contractors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Quality Management or Quality Assurance.
• Background in defense, aerospace, automotive or medical device industries is strongly appreciated.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and experience implementing QMS frameworks.
• Familiarity with EN 9100, AQAP standards or similar regulated frameworks.
• Experience conducting internal audits and managing CAPA processes.
• Structured, pragmatic approach that supports engineering speed.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Eligibility for German security clearance (SÜ2/Ü2) and German or EU citizenship.
