R Developer with Life Science Background

About the role

We are seeking an R Developer with a strong life‑science background to join a research‑driven team in Germany. The role sits at the crossroads of software engineering, data science and biology, creating production‑grade R‑based tools that support drug discovery, clinical trials and biomedical analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑quality R and Shiny applications for biological and clinical data analysis.
• Process, analyse and visualise complex life‑science datasets, ensuring reproducibility and usability.
• Build and maintain reusable R packages and data‑processing components for scalable analytics.
• Collaborate with scientists, bioinformaticians and data engineers to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop interactive visualisation tools and support their deployment in cloud or distributed environments.
• Use Git for version control and participate in code‑review and continuous‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in R programming with experience in production settings.
• Background in bioinformatics, biostatistics, genomics or related life‑science disciplines (Master’s degree or equivalent).
• Ability to work closely with scientific stakeholders and translate complex requirements into scalable solutions.
