Regional Director – Water & Sanitation, Francophone Africa

About the role

FICHTNER is seeking a Regional Director to lead water supply and sanitation projects across Francophone Africa. You will act as the primary on‑site representative, overseeing project delivery, client relations, and regional office management.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation of water and sanitation projects in Francophone African countries.
• Oversee contract management, resource allocation, quality assurance, invoicing, claims, and project finances in collaboration with local office managers.
• Serve as the main client contact, representing FICHTNER and ensuring client satisfaction.
• Supervise and manage regional offices and facilities.
• Identify market opportunities, prepare technical and financial proposals, and manage bid processes.
• Provide technical support or assume project‑management duties when required.
• Travel regularly within the region and potentially expand responsibilities to additional regions.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil Engineering, Water Supply & Sanitation, Process/Environmental Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in international infrastructure or consulting projects, preferably with exposure to Francophone African markets.
• Proven experience managing complex water or infrastructure projects.
• Full professional proficiency in German and French.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, strong leadership, and confidence in dealing with clients and international stakeholders.
• Willingness to undertake regular international travel.
