Research Engineer

About the role

This position is for a Research Engineer based in Germany, working at the intersection of research and engineering. You will transform conceptual models into working prototypes and experimental frameworks that enable rapid validation of AI‑driven decision systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build experimental research prototypes and sandbox environments.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and benchmarking tools for decision systems.
• Implement experimental architectures supporting A/B testing and iterative model comparison.
• Maintain and evolve research infrastructure to ensure reproducibility, stability, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with research scientists to translate theoretical models into runnable systems.
• Provide early technical feedback on feasibility and help refine research directions.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with a focus on modularity, reliability, and maintainability.
• Experience with experimental, prototype‑driven or research‑adjacent systems, preferably in AI or analytics.
• Comfort working in ambiguous, research‑oriented settings where requirements evolve.
• Ability to balance speed and rigor, delivering working systems quickly while maintaining technical quality.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration with researchers and engineers.
