Safety Engineer – ePowertrain & Battery Systems

About the role

Join Yanmar's Electrification Unit (ELU) as a Safety Engineer focused on ePowertrain systems and battery packs. You will ensure that cutting‑edge electric off‑highway machinery complies with the highest safety standards and functional safety norms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement safety protocols for ePowertrain systems and battery packs.
• Create a safety approval process in PDM to meet functional safety targets.
• Conduct error analyses such as FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA.
• Develop and coordinate safety concepts for Battery Management Systems (BMS).
• Perform detailed risk assessments and define mitigation strategies.
• Document safety evaluations, test results, and compliance measures.
• Drive continuous improvement of safety processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety engineering for electric powertrains or battery systems.
• Strong knowledge of functional safety standards and norms.
• Ability to conduct FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA analyses.
• Experience developing safety concepts for BMS.
• Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
